MINNEAPOLIS--American Express, joining the online trading fray, will launch American Express Brokerage, a firm combining online trading and financial advice, the company said today.
Features will include low-cost online trading--or even free equity trades depending on account balance, mutual fund choice, and comprehensive financial planning tools backed by access to American Express Financial Advisors, a network of more then 9,300 personal financial advisors.
American Express said the service and tools that it plans to offer later this fall are "unparalleled" in the online brokerage marketplace.
"American Express Brokerage lets our customers invest when, where, and how they want," said Doug Lennick, executive vice president, Advice and Retail Distribution Group, American Express.
The company said the new online brokerage represents an important step in establishing American Express's position in online commerce.
